In view of of of the the the the the end of of of the the the the the mandate of of of Eastern Neighbourhood respectively
the the the the European Parliament and and the the the the Eu- ropean ropean elections of of May 2019 during this first part of of of the the the mandate we fo- cused on the the the advancement of of the the the current European agenda especially on on legislative projects close to com- pletion or or at at at at an an advanced stage of ne- gotiation at at at Council level or or with the European Parliament For an an an an overview in the the the first 100 days of the the the the mandate the the the the Romanian Presiden- cy of to the the the EU Council has handled more than 1 000 events and and meetin- gs gs of of which approximately 600 mee- tings tings of of working groups (in Brussels) over 200 political trialogue meetings with the the European European Parliament and the the European European Commission on on on legislative proposals in co-decision Our efforts have materialized in in sub- stantial results in in in the negotiations on on active legislative dossiers Thus in in in the the first 100 days since the the Presiden- cy’s start we have been able to finali- ze the negotiations for 90 legislative dossiers many of which have major impact at at EU level These include the the the Natural Gas Directive Directive the the the Single Market Copyright Directive Directive the the the the the Re- gulation on on the the the the establishment of the the the the European Labour Office the the the the Package of of regulations on on the the the the interoperability of of the the the the EU’s IT systems the the the the Banking Package Package the the the Capital Markets Union Legislative Package Package changes in in sta- tus and and funding political parties and and foundations the Council’s conclusi- ons ons ons on on on on on on ensuring free and fair electi- ons ons ons with a a a a a focus on on on on on on on combating mi- sinformation Council’s conclusions on on artificial intelligence the European commitment in favour of multilateralism Romania remains deeply attached to the the the the European vocation and as the the the the Presidency of of the the the the Council of of the the the the Eu- ropean ropean Union we intend to to contribute to to the the the consolidation of of the the the European project including in in in terms of of the the the eco- nomic dimension From this perspective we plan to strengthen a a a „Europe of Convergen- ce” Thus we will aim to to contribute to to ensuring economic convergence and and European cohesion with a a a a a a a a view to a a a a a a a a a a sustainable and and and equitable deve- lopment for all citizens and and Member States by increasing competitiveness and and reducing development gaps pro- moting connectivity and and and digitization stimulating entrepreneurship and and strengthening the the European industrial policy A cohesive Europe should be based on on equal opportunities for social and and economic actors citizens and and the the private environment across the the EU These opportunities cover both fun- damental rights and equal equal develop- ment ment conditions as as well as as equal equal ac- cess to to fairly paid jobs opportunities to to develop a a a a a competitive business on the the Single European Market From this perspective maintaining the the the full func- tionality of of the the the freedoms of of move- ment ment and the the the Single European Market is a a a a a basic element for strengthening the EU Enhancing the the competitiveness of the the European economy remains a a a a a a a a priority during Romania’s mandate including by promoting the development of en- trepreneurship and SME support at at European level We believe that good coordination of of economic policies is vital for optimizing the functioning of of Economic and Monetary Union inclu- ding through measures on on on on on increased
